When we had Elinore we made a commitment to ourselves that we would not allow having children keep us from doing this thing that we love. From the beginning we've thrown her in a backpack and taken her into the woods with us. She loves it. Last winter I was able to carry her in the backpack and go during the day a couple times a week! That felt so good. This year I have been limited to going when Kevin can go and carry Elinore. She still loves it. She sings songs in his ear and calls "go faster" on all the downhills.
Here I am almost 28 weeks pregnant plowing my way through the snow. My belly is so much bigger now than it was with Elinore that it is making me nervous as to how big this little boy will be. I'm a lot slower this year and can't go as far as I'd like, but it feels so good to get out in the fresh crisp quiet snowland and get moving.
Next year may be challenging with an 8 month old in a backpack and Elinore in between riding in a backpack and skiing for herself. I am confident that we'll figure something out whether it means getting a second backpack, putting her in skiis and going around the park across the street, or dropping her off at Grandma and Grandpa's so we can go for a good ski. We'll just have to see...On the way home today Kevin said, "Well, I think we've found our lifetime sport." It is such an aerobic low-impact sport. I'm glad he thinks we'll be doing this for a long time.
On a knitting note, you can see Kevin is wearing Koolhaas Hat #3. It was a late Christmas gift (since I didn't like the first hat I knit him). He picked out the yarn - a beautiful simple gray made of wool and alpaca. I think I'm getting pretty good at this hat!!

What a great family activity! It is great that Elinore loves it so much and that you are still able to do those types of things with a preggo belly! (you look great by the way) And I'm sure you'll figure something out for next year :) Great knitting projects too. Miss you guys!
I'm so glad you love cc skiing. Dad and I went for a long ski yesterday and it was great being outside enjoying the snow.
Could I get the instructions for my knit hat from you? A co-worker at the Arboretum loved it and wants to make one for herself.
Wow....look at all that snow! We, sadly are limited to drizzle, rain and wind over here; we had floods in the summer and floods in the winter! Thats Britain for you!!
Looks like you guys are blocking out lots of fun family time! Awesome!!
Hope all is well; you certainly look like you're glowing
Blessings

I like the hats and the layette set is very cute too. That green yarn really shines.
