This past weekend was a wonderful sister retreat for me. It was the first time I've really been away from home by myself since Elinore was born...maybe longer. It was the first time my sisters and I have spent good quality time together as adults (away from everyone else). It was so much fun. We got a hotel room in South Haven for the weekend and filled ourselves up with junk food and laughter. We had lots of time to talk, play games, eat fancy chocolates, cross-country ski, and enjoy each others' company.
Thank you, sisters, for such a lovely weekend. I am already looking forward to doing this again in '09!!! Miss you both already.
Aside from thoroughly enjoying my sisters' company, I basked in a weekend free from Elinore's schedule. I love my sweet girl and missed her so much, but it was wonderful not to worry myself about naptime and mealtime and snacktime and... I felt so liberated from time/someone else's schedule. I really like having a routine and knowing what to expect, but it was wonderful to break free from that for a weekend.
