Mouse #2 has been caught. I am very happy to report that he made the wise choice of ending up in the more humane live trap and was quickly relocated to the park across the street.
We have some very brazen mice. Kevin and I are standing in the kitchen, with the light on, doing dishes, and talking and this crazy mouse goes running across the kitchen floor. I mean seriously. He was just asking to be caught.

You guys need to get a CAT! I know you think the mice are cute, but you'd be amazed at how uncute they become when they start helping themselves to your food. When we had our cat Marley, he even caught a bat (we, too, had one or two bat episodes at our old house!). Usually the cat won't eat the mouse, but he'll bring it to "show" you his accomplishment! Ewwwww.... but it works!
A cat would probably be great for mouse control, but remember those of us in your family who are very allergic to cats. Maybe we can buy more traps for you. :)
I read somewhere that peppermint is a mice deterrent - you could buy pepper mint oil (probably would last longer than extract) and saturate cotton balls, a cloth, or whatever, and place them in nooks and crannies where you think mice might be sneaking around. Actual mint leaves might work too. This would be a very humane method and wouldn't require you bringing any more animals into the house!
