Books and Whooshing

Suddenly yesterday I started thinking about books. I love to read. I used to read all the time, but now seem to be rather sporadic (speed through a book and then go a month without reading anything). Life has just required a lot of my attention for the last couple years, and I don't expect it to let up for many more years to come. Anyway, I was mentally making a list of my favorite books of all time. This took a lot of thinking because there are a lot of books I really like, but would they be a "favorite of all time"? To be a "favorite" they had to be more than a good story or a fun read. They had to strike me, cause me to think differently, need attention on more than one level, have a particular writing style,...

I'm up to about my top 7 (I may have to add a few more if I think of what they would be). I wanted to share them with you all even though this could be rather revealing. Nobody make fun of my secret love of sci-fi/fantasy! Here they are, pretty much in order.

1. Ender's Game by: Orson Scott Card
2. And There Was Light by: Jacques Lusseyran
3. Les Miserables by: Victor Hugo
4. Pride and Prejudice by: Jane Austen
5. The Space Trilogy (I guess this is really three books) by: C.S. Lewis
6. The Robe by: Lloyd C. Douglas
7. The Red Tent by: Anita Diamant

I would love to hear what books you guys enjoy! Feel free to post a comment of your favorite book or two. I'm always in the market for a good read!!

Also wanted to share a piece of news. There is a new little heartbeat in our lives!! We are pregnant and expecting baby #2 sometime in April. We are so excited, and Elinore already loves kissing my belly and bringing books for the baby. I got to hear the little whoosh whoosh of a heartbeat today which starts to make it all seem more real.

I'm so glad to hear your appt. went well. I can't wait to hear if it's a boy or girl! Elinore is going to be a great big sis. About books, I have a bunch of good ones if you'd ever like to borrow any, I don't know if they're your type of read though, I like drama, suspense, sometimes love stories, not really sci fi.
