Landscaping

On Thursday Elinore and I drove to Grand Rapids to spend the day with my friend Megs and baby Kirra. I went to be helpful, but mostly just ended up hanging out (although I did pass on all of my cloth diaper knowledge). I was there the whole day and didn't take a single photo! What was I thinking? Anyway, I arrived home early evening to find that all of our plants had been delivered and strategically placed in our beds!!! I have been waiting for this day for a long time.
Saturday morning we got up and started working. Elinore had her plastic shovel in hand and amused herself with putting dirt in the wheelbarrow. It was nice to all be out there working together as a family. We dug holes, planted plants, spread dirt, layed soaker hose, and mulched. I have not worked that hard in a long time! Thanks so much to those who helped out - Dad W. who put in a few hours helping with some planting and transplanting - Brian and Amy who fed Elinore dinner so that we could keep working while we had daylight - and anyone else I forgot.
On Sunday we put in about three more hours and finished up just as it started to rain. Perfect for having just put plants in the ground. We had a gentle steady rain all the rest of the day, and we were so glad to be done, showered, and sitting on the couch! As you can see the rain pushed us inside, so we still have some cleaning up to do out there. I'll have to post pictures periodically so that you can watch it grow and fill in over the next several years.
I just can't wait to see what it will look like in the spring!!

Holy cow that looks like a ton of hard work went into it! It already looks really nice, but I'm sure as it starts to take root and flourish it will be beautiful! Good job!
