Lydia Turns 3!

Our niece Lydia turned 3 on Friday and on Saturday she had a little mother-daughter tea party to celebrate. Amy outdid herself with a fancy looking table, mini-cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries (Elinore would have eaten the whole plate!), ice cream balls rolled in a variety of goodies, tea or hot chocolate, and some fun activities for the girls.
I'm wondering who had more fun: moms or daughters! It is fun to have a reason to dress up and feel dainty. One of the activities was to paint your fingernails. Of course Elinore picked out the brightest color possible - red. Her fingers are so tiny, they were hard to paint!! This was definitely crossing a "girly" line with my daughter that I was not quite prepared to cross, but she just loves them! She has shown everyone we meet and keeps asking me if she can take her fingers with her for her nap. She also made a little styrofoam crown that she insisted on wearing while we ran our errands this morning exclaiming, "I'm a princess!" The funny thing is that she has no idea what a princess is!
Here is the birthday girl herself sporting a birthday gift from her Grandma, and a somewhat regal expression! You may notice the dollhouse in the background of one of the photos. Brian made it, Amy painted it, and Lydia can't get enough of it! Thanks, Lydia for a really fun birthday party!
