There are moments in your life when you realize that you are not cool. I had one of those this week.
On Thursday I got my hair cut (quite a bit, actually). While there I was asking the stylist about some ideas of things to do with my hair on a regular basis. First she asked me how I usually do it, and as I was telling her I started to feel kind of embarrassed. "Nobody really does that anymore, do they?" I asked. "Not really," she responded kindly. I suddenly realized that I've been doing my hair pretty much the same way for the last 8-10 years. This is how you get to be not cool!! If I don't get it together, Elinore is going to be embarrassed to be around me in a few years.
Wow. I'm still feeling a little humiliated. Needless to say, I am experimenting with a few new styles this week...

Jen, I always love your hair!! Don't be embarrassed; I think it's great and I love your curls. Good luck with the new styles. I checked out the link with your grandma, and oh my goodness, THAT'S a cool(and brave) lady for sure!
Jen, I don't know what you're hair is doing now, but I think you are always ridiculously adorable! Besides, I haven't been cool for ages and I have nothing like the pressure of a child to live up to. She'll respect you for being your wonderful self (though it may take 25 years).
