Here I am at 39 weeks. I look tired. That is because I have had a very long and emotional day. I went to see my midwife knowing that we would most likely be inducing in the next week. They decided that we should do it today. So I am about to head up to the birthing unit, but then they decided to do another ultrasound just to verify numbers and be sure of what we are dealing with. Good thing. They thought my high fluid levels (you will remember that my amniotic fluid was at 36 last week) were a fluke. Just kidding, today they were at 50. I think I'm going to win a record here.So now I have two high risk factors (high fluid levels and big baby). After lots of consultation with my midwife and the doctor - and an ample amount of tears on my part, we are scheduled for a c-section tomorrow afternoon. Not a decision I want to make, but it seems to be the safest, best option for Tobin. That's really all that matters.
Anyway, Kevin and I decided to do a little last minute contest. Post a comment guessing our baby's weight. Whoever is closest without going over will win. The winner will win something (maybe a little care package filled with Dutch goodies) delivered or shipped to you. You have until we post Tobin's weight on here which will most likely be Thursday morning. If you are family and you get a phone call before then, then you'd better guess before we talk to you!!
Please send your prayers our way. We are pretty nervous about the whole procedure, but looking forward to holding our little guy.

hmm...I can't imagine having a baby over 7 lb 14 oz, but you definitely are much riper than I ever was. So I'd venture a good 10 pounder (do I get DQ'd if I go over?) You're in good hands. Remember that this is a still a birth, just of a different sort...give the guy a squeeze for me (Tobin, not Kevin).

Jen, I'm sorry you had an emotional day. We will be praying for you that the c section goes well, Tobin is happy and healthy and you will heal quickly. It's all worth it in the end, plus no labor pains, right!?

Hi, Jen! I've enjoyed reading about you and your beautiful family lately. I know you can't help but be anxious, but I do pray you find peace and calm about this situation. C-section babies have rounder heads!! Big baby or not, I hope he isn't over 8lb. 14oz., but will be wonderful anyway!

We haven't received a call yet, so our guesses are legal. Dad guesses 10 lbs., 1 oz. My guess is 9 lbs., 10 oz. (Probably no Newborn clothes :)

OK I already know what his weight is but I'll post what I thought he would weigh, 9lb 14oz. Laura said he is beautiful and I can't wait to get my hands on him. Yaaaaay Tobin! I'm so excited to see pictures! Whisper in his ear that when I see him I'll have all kinds of crazy stories of the far East to tell him. And I'll tell them to Ella Bella first so she can act them out as I'm telling them. ;) I can tell we will make a very good dramatic team. Do I have a weight guess?? Uh.... no real idea.
