Passing Down

Not long after Elinore was born, my mom brought a little box of clothes over. It contained mostly homemade things that we had worn plus a few store-bought favorites. There were several beautiful smocked dresses that she had made for my sisters and I. This sweater my Grandma Perry made for me. It is so amazing to put this on her and think, I wore this. I'm learning to get rid of things (so as not to clutter our lives), but to have a few things to pass down is a beautiful thing. I have received a few things my mom made, a few things Grandma Perry made, a few things Grandma Bodine made, and even a few things that Grandma Wolthuis made. I sort of feel like I am giving Elinore a history. Posted by Picasa

What a cute picture--and sweater. Elinore seems to look good in every color. Enjoy these days when she'll wear whatever you want her to :)
