My good friend Megan had a birthday this week, and I declared that I was going to make her a cake. She told me to pick whatever I wanted, so after some searching and perusing of recipes I (and Kevin had the final say) decided on this one. Apple Walnut Cake with Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting. Yum! This cake had three cups of chopped Golden Delicious apple in it which made it so moist. The cream cheese frosting uses homemade caramel in place of powdered sugar. Wow. Then you drizzle caramel over the cake and swirl it in. This may well be my prettiest cake ever.
I also finished a skirt for myself from my new book
Sew What! Skirts. I usually don't make things for myself, so I felt so proud wearing something I had made myself. Plus it is exactly what I wanted. Simple, lightweight for summer, fun fabric, but feminine. I had a little trouble with the zipper (this was my first time putting one in), but it isn't very noticeable.
